Vintage Buttons & Sewing Items

We hope you enjoy our collection of vintage sewing items. We are always on the look out for interesting buttons in bakelite, celluloid, rhinestone, crystal, and mother of pearl. We will also include other vintage and antique sewing ephemera and accessories such as thimbles, buckles, button covers, button hooks and other goodies we find.

These bakelite buttons are a lovely soft butter color. They are perfect for embellishing, quilting and crafts. They look fabulous with a bead in the center. These buttons came from a mercantile store that closed in 1940 and have been in a clean storage area ever since. Sold in packs of 15.

Dated from 1901-07, these domed Indian Head pennies have been hammered into button covers.  Use them as they were intended or get creative.  Great gift for coin collectors. Vintage  Sold as a pair: 3 pairs available.

These small black glass buttons are really special. Popular for embellishing, quilting, and for use on doll's clothing. They still have the original tag that says "Made in Germany-U.S.-Zone" (1947). They come 100 to a strand.

Black plastic belt buckle with clear rhinestones accenting it. Made for a leather, cloth or ribbon belt to fold over it. See the back. Circa 1960's

Dark butterscotch bakelite belt buckle in an art deco shape. Made for a leather, cloth or ribbon belt to fold over it.

This unusual bakelite buckle is chocolate brown and is deeply carved in an art deco fashion. The backs have metal clips to fasten it and metal bars to thread a leather or fabric belt through. So easy to use- fabulous to wear. Great surface and patina, the metal does show a little age. See back

This lovely buckle is large enough for a man but yet small enough for a woman as well. It is beautifully chased metal with a place for a monogram. It has a dark patina and some scratches. It is unmarked, but tested as sterling silver. It is for a belt that is ½-¾ inches wide. Circa 1940's

Fabulous antique belt buckle that is just covered in rhinestones. It is pot metal with row after row of sparkling clear rhinestones. A few have turned a little darker with age, but it's still in really good condition. It even has all the hardware pieces for the back. See the back. It is for a belt that is 1 ½-¾ inches wide. Circa 1920's

Red Velvet pin cushion decorated with flowers and faux jewels. it has a domed red velvet center in a gold tone setting. It is marked Florenza on the back. ~ See the back.

Vintage gold plated rose thimble made by Carol Bradley. It has deep dimples and a cut our front for a finger nail. It is lovely with applied roses across the front. It is size medium and is marked inside: © Carol Bradley 1972 M~ See another view - Made in 1972

Bone china thimble made by Jones. Has a painting of a man with a long pipe on both sides and is decorated with a gold rim. It is marked Jones, The Thimble, Bone China on the inside.

These old buttons were found at an estate sale.  They are black lucite with a self shank and they have a large rhinestone in the center. In unused condition

Lady Washington mother of pearl buttons in pink. Original cards with cute 1920's graphics. They say An attractive Pearl Trimming. Each card has 3 buttons on it.

This is a vintage Swarovski crystal rivoli button in a silver base that also has a rim of clear crystals. (shank on back)

Antique button hook that has a gold plastic handle with faux ivory decoration. Circa 1910

Lovely American, antique gold thimble made by Stern Bros. of New York City between 1890-1908. (before they merged with Goldsmith and became Goldsmith Stern Co.) It is engraved on the band with flowers, leaves, and the initials C.M. It is marked with an anchor and 7 on the inside. Tests as 10K gold. ~ See initials; See close up; See inside

Dated from 1930's, these domed Buffalo nickels have been hammered into button covers.   Use them as they were intended or get creative and sew them on a pillow, fashion them into a pendant or a component for a unique bracelet.  Sold as a pair: one Indian side & one buffalo side.
