Vintage Coral Jewelry

Coral jewelry has a timeless appeal, and is more popular than ever today. It's really our specialty and one of our favorite types of jewelry. The demand for coral continues to grow despite new trade and harvesting regulations.  All of our coral jewelry is vintage and has been in the U.S. for many years. Coral is an organic gemstone and unfortunately, coral reefs are endangered. They are threatened by warming ocean waters, harmful bacteria, pollution, and destructive fishing methods. Fine coral jewelry is getting rarer and more expensive all the time. Think of it like an investment, the price of coral jewelry will go up, because the supply is very limited.

The premier coral on the market is still "oxblood" red coral which is from the species Corallium. Most of it is harvested in the deep waters of the Mediterranean, and then polished and cut in Italy or Japan. Pink or Angel skin coral is always popular and commands a high price too. We have some pieces that are nearly impossible to find elsewhere.  Lots of our customers say they didn't even know there were so many different types and colors of corals.  Did you know it occurs naturally in lavender, black, blue, white, and of course every spectrum of red. Many people have never seen real Apple or Tiger coral.  You have not been able to import it into the USA for decades, so the only sources are antique and vintage pieces. This is an exquisite Victorian Era Multi-strand Red Coral Necklace. The coral is all natural Sardinian red coral that was all hand cut. The six strands of 3-4mm beads are strung on red silk. The beads on the first and last inch are all hand knotted, which makes the necklace stronger and prevents bead loss if there ever is a break. It is a sign of excellent quality. There is a 14Kt gold fluted tube clasp and filigree bead caps. The clasp is marked 14K and works perfectly. The necklace is in excellent condition, the coral is A+ with minimal visible pores or flaws. The color is very even and perfectly matched on each strand. See view A, View B, View C. See the clasp.

A very pretty vintage red coral necklace. The coral is all natural and hasn't been treated or dyed in any way. It has graduated long spiky branches that are over 1½ inches long in the center. The coral is a nice dark red color. There are handmade silver beads on the ends with a handmade silver hook clasp that is unmarked. ~ Circa 1970's. See view A, View B. See the clasp.

This is a Native American red branch coral necklace with handmade sterling silver beads. The coral is all natural and hasn't been treated or dyed in any way. The coral is a nice dark red color and it has a handmade sterling silver figure 8 clasp and hook. The silver has a dark patina on it. Lovely vintage red Italian coral necklace. The coral is all natural and hasn't been treated or dyed in any way. It has graduated long spiky branches, some that are over 1¾ inches long in the center. The coral has a wonderful polish and is a nice red color. It has silver cones and a handmade hook an eye clasp. The cones have impressed sunburst patterns. See view A, View B. See the clasp.

It has graduated long spiky branches that are over 1¾ inches long in the center. It is strung on red silk nice and has a gold tone spring ring clasp that is unmarked. Fabulous black coral necklace that has a large pendant. It is made with long tubes that are connected with silver tone rings. The coral is all natural and hasn't been treated or dyed in any way. You can see the growth rings on the ends of the coral and on the pendant. The pendant is a large piece of coral that was cut at angle. It has a silver tone spring ring. See view A, View B. Here is a great necklace composed of rare blue denim and red sponge coral heishe beads. There is a pretty triangular pendant in the center with both types of coral represented. This vintage coral necklace has a great 70's BOHO style. It is composed of rare blue denim coral and red sponge coral heishe beads. It has beautifully graduated heishe beads in a unisex design. This vintage necklace is composed of pretty delicate branch coral beads in a salmon pink color. The branches alternate between long and short through out the middle of the necklace, and finish with only short ones closest to the clasp. This is very high quality natural coral with excellent color saturation and no visible pores or flaws. (It hasn't been dyed) The longest branches measure over 1 1/4 inches. Closes with a barrel clasp. Circa 1970 - from old jewelry store, never worn.

This vintage necklace is composed of pretty branch coral beads mixed with gold rounds and a gold filigree bead in the center. The coral is medium pink branches with some white on the tips. The branches are graduated and are extra long in the center. This is high quality natural coral that hasn't been dyed) The longest branches measure about 1 inch. It is finished with a gorgeous gold filigree pearl clasp. Circa 1970. See the clasp.

This is a black branch coral necklace with long branches in the front. There are smaller pieces all around the back and sides. It has matching earrings on gold tone french wires. The black coral is all hand polished and natural, it and hasn't been treated or dyed in any way. The coral has been polished to a high sheen and is in terrific shape. The longest piece is 2 inches and it has a secure barrel clasp. This coral is getting rare and very hard to find. It's a real treasure. See view A, B. The necklace is unmarked. Circa 1960's.

This vintage necklace is composed of pretty branch coral beads. The coral is a medium pink color with some white on the tips. They are slightly darker and have more color than some of the other angel skin pieces we have. The branches are graduated and are extra long in the center. This is a very high quality natural coral. (It hasn't been dyed) The longest branches measure over 1 1/2 inches. It is finished with gold beads and a barrel clasp. Circa 1970.

Another wonderful coral lion necklace. This vintage necklace is composed of genuine apple coral beads in multiple strands twisted together and accented with gold rounds. The large lion pendant is a mosaic of tiger and apple coral along with black onyx and mother of pearl. It has a gold tone barrel clasp. See the back ~Circa 1970's.

This vintage apple coral necklace has a fabulous look. It is composed of rare apple coral graduated round beads. The beads range from 20mm-10mm. It is a beautiful and long necklace measuring just over 23 inches. It is finished with a silver tone barrel clasp. Apple coral is almost extinct and can no longer be imported, so its very rare. A fabulous salmon Italian coral necklace with delicate branches. The coral hasn't been treated or dyed in any way, it's all natural. It has graduated spiky branches that are about an inch long in the center. It has a barrel clasp that is unmarked. See another view. See clasp.~ Circa 1960's.

This angel skin coral necklace is really spectacular it has all the characteristics you want in a fine coral necklace. The angel skin coral is Italian and is a very uniform pale pink color. It is very well matched and has no blotches or blemishes it is AA quality. The beads are 9.5mm and are hand knotted on light pink silk. It has a lovely hand carved rose pendant out of angel skin coral as well. The clasp is 14kt gold and is very secure. This special necklace has the finest of everything, Circa 1970. Angel Skin coral of this quality is rare and highly sought after by coral collectors, it is the rarest and most desirable coral. This is the finest coral necklace we have ever had for sale. This vintage coral necklace is composed of rare blue denim coral and shell heishe beads. It has a large black fossilized shark's tooth as a pendant. It is finished with liquid silver beads and a silver barrel clasp. See View A, View B and a close-up of the pendant. It is in excellent condition - Circa 1970.

This is a dramatic, extra long black branch coral necklace. I have never seen a necklace with branches this long, it's just incredible. The black coral is all hand polished and natural, it and hasn't been treated or dyed in any way. Most of the branches are 2 inches and the longest pieces are 2 ½ inches. These are very rare. Fabulous opera length, black coral necklace. It is made with beautiful AA quality round coral beads that all have been polished to an extra high gloss. These beads are a rare find in this size and quality; they are graduated from 8mm to 15mm. The coral is all natural and hasn't been treated or dyed in any way. The matching clasp is gold filled with a black coral cabochon. Never been worn and is in mint condition ~ Circa 1960.

An exquisite pair of antique red coral earrings; they are vintage Victorian Italian red coral in a grape motif. The earrings are composed of many intertwined genuine coral beads. They are natural coral, untreated in this vibrant, beautiful color. The earrings are sterling silver with a gilt (gold wash). The earrings are shepherd hooks decorated with ribbon bows and a single coral bead with the clusters dangling below. There are lovely chased grape leaves adorning the top of the coral beads. They are in excellent condition and are marked 925~ Circa 1900's. See the backs.
