These are great vintage cinnabar beads were deeply carved by hand in a floral pattern. They were made long ago with a process that involved slowly adding many layers of cinnabar lacquer over a wood base. The cinnabar mineral was found to be toxic, so true cinnabar beads can no longer be made. We just love the look of these mixed with our cloisonne beads.

These are extra large vintage cinnabar beads. They can be used as a focal bead or a pendant. They were deeply carved by hand and are excellent quality. They were made long ago with a process that involved slowly adding many layers of cinnabar lacquer and over a wood base. The cinnabar was found to be toxic, so true cinnabar beads can no longer be made. We just love the look of these mixed with our cloisonne beads.
