These are African sandcast or powder glass tube beads with a turquoise blue stripe. This strand of African glass trade beads has a light colored glass base with a turquoise stripe on one end. These vintage beads are handmade, as evidenced by slight variations in size and shape, and are strung on a thin, natural-fiber cord. African glass beads, hold significant cultural and historical value. The beads were made using the powder-glass technique, where crushed glass is heated and poured into clay molds. These are beautiful beads and will add a wonderful ethnic look to your jewelry. The Ghanaians have been making beads in this manner since the 1600s. Circa 1950's
