Vintage rouge compact made by Luxor of Chicago. It was one of the first cosmetics company in the US. They started selling their Rouge Parfait in 1910. The first tins were very plain brass. This fancy metal compact has a gold textured finish with crosses and dots and it open and closes well and is circa late 1920's. The applicator is there and the remnants of red rouge inside. The mirror in the lid is cloudy, which is typical for this age. Rouge was popularly used on lips and cheeks. The front is marked Luxor and the back is marked made in U.S.A. This is one of their rare compacts and is a fabulous vanity collectible.
