Pair of Barovier and Toso Murano Glass Italian Lamps

Pair of Barovier and Toso Murano Glass Italian Lamps

$999.00

A Fabulous Pair of Vintage Murano Glass Lamps by Barovier and Toso. They are shaped to resemble oil lamps. This fantastic set of table lamps, was entirely handcrafted in blown glass, on the Murano Island in Venice. The beautiful glass bases and handles are gold flecked. The bodies are smooth and heavy, with loads of gold aventurine swirling throughout. The handles are attached to the body at both ends, so seem sturdy. The shade holders are a heavy brass, and retain the aged old patina. The decorative glass shades are swirled with ruffled pie crust rims and sit firmly in the brass fittings.

They were originally set up for use with candles, but they were cleverly designed with a dual purpose and were recently wired for use with electricity. The original candle cups can be seen in one picture. It would be easy to remove the wiring and convert them back if you wish. The undersides reveal a brass ring protecting a hole, where the cord threads through and they even have a channel in the glass which the cord lies, allowing them to sit flush upon a table.

The lamps have no cracks, chips or repairs There is a small amount of oxidation on the brass, but that could be polished out if you wished. Overall in fantastic condition.

  • The bases measure 4¾ inches without the handles.
  • Height is 11¼ inches
  • Circa 1940's
  • Excellent condition
