This is a nicely detailed, and beautifully carved ivory pendant. She is a lovely lady and most likely a rendering of the Chinese "Goddess of Compassion," Kuan Yin, a very popular and benevolent Asian figure. It was hand carved and is domed on the front and flat on the back, It has a gold bail on he top. This is pre-ban ivory and was most likely carved in Hong Kong. It has mellowed to a beautiful creamy color.
