This antique necklace features two of my favorites, ivory and coral beads. The beads are slightly graduated and alternate for a lovely design. The hand cut coral is a medium orange color (characteristic of Italian “noble coral”) and is graduated from 5-9.5mm. Natural coral is becoming very rare and collectible. This Victorian era necklace was imported before the ivory ban and Schraeger lines and cross hatching are seen on most of the ivory beads. The beads have a lovely warm and yellowed patina consistent with antique ivory that has been worn. It has a traditional screw clasp closure.
