This is a Victorian Era coral necklace composed of natural Sardinian Coral beads from Italy. The beads are nicely graduated from 12mm to 3mm. The salmon coral beads are not perfectly round because they were hand cut in mid to late 1800's. Under close inspection you can see a few imperfections in the coral. This rare coral is all natural and hasn't been treated or dyed in any way so slight color differences and imperfections lend credence to its authenticity. The hand cut coral is a medium orange color that is characteristic of Italian “noble coral”. It is the color that the Victorian's treasured. The necklace has a 14K gold spring ring clasp and is 17¾ inches long.
Natural coral is becoming very rare and collectible. This necklace was restrung a few years ago and glass pearls were added as accents, the beads are now tight and secure. We will send it in a lovely gift box too.
