This is a long beautifully carved ivory goddess pendant necklace. She is a lovely lady and most likely a rendering of the Chinese "Goddess of Compassion," Kuan Yin, a very popular and benevolent Asian figure. It was hand carved and slightly curved. The necklace is composed of 20mm black onyx disk beads and two carved 18mm ivory beads strung on black silk. The necklace is very long and strung without a clasp, so it easily slips over your head. This is pre-ban ivory and was most likely carved in Hong Kong in the 1960's. It has mellowed to a beautiful creamy off-white color.
