This is a wonderful ethnic necklace composed of African Trade Beads. The largest beads are are glass Venetian Chevron cylinder beads from the early 1900's. They are brick red with yellow, white, and black stripes. The stripes are very even and the beads have a black core. This fabulous necklace includes lost wax cast brass beads in between the tubes. They are all hand strung on cord without a clasp. It ends with a handsome Nigerian cast brass bell.
This necklace is from the estate of a Jewelry/Bead collector and was purchased in Africa in the 1960's.
The necklace measures 29 inches long and easily slips over your head. The center bead and bell pendant are 3 inches long. Most of the cylinder beads are 1½ long and 13mm in diameter. These antique beads have some chips and dings, which add to their beauty and story.
