This brooch is comprised of small red coral beads intricately strung on wires to emulate a grape cluster with twisted gold wires on top look like grape vines. The coral grapes are attached to an 800 silver vermeil (gold plated) frame with three detailed gold grape leaves. Italy is home to some of the oldest wine producing regions in the world, so it is no wonder that Italian coral carvers have been paying homage to the grape for many generations with their meticulously woven bead jewelry designs.
We estimate age to be around 1925. The coral is the classic Sardinian red variety and is all natural, untreated and not dyed. The beads were hand cut so they are not perfectly round and have a few natural flaws that are visible with magnification. They are an even color have a a smooth polish and shine. It has no visible damage or missing beads.
