Vintage Berber tribal necklace featuring handmade enamel pendants from Morocco. The pendants are individually wired on the silver chain. The enamel pendants are traditional Berber designs including rare 5 pointed stars (Star of David), lanterns, diamonds and teardrops. They all have red glass cabochons and green, blue and yellow enameling. and applied twisted wires. This type of jewelry and pendants were popular among the Berber women living in the western Anti Atlas region. The metal has a slight oxidized finish, as with all tribal jewelry, the silver content of the beads varies and is usually lower than sterling. The Star of David shows the influence of the Jewish Silversmiths who lived in the region until the 1960's. The necklace has a simple silver hook and eye clasp that is secure. This necklace is an exceptional example from the estate of a Jewelry/Bead collector from Santa Fe.
