Rare Vintage Carved Ivory & Malachite Tusk Pendants with gold vermeil bails. These pendants were hand carved and polished from Elephant Ivory and Green Malachite. They have a curved ivory tusk with a dark green malachite cap. The cap has a gold plated sterling silver bail on the top. They are each hand carved circa 1970 so vary in shape and size. The Italians wore these types of amulets to protect against the evil eye, in Italian cornuto, corno, or cornicello. Corno means "horn" and cornicello means "little horn" -- these names refer to a long, gently twisted horn-shaped amulet.
- They are a traditional tooth shape with a nice curve and tapered end.
- Circa: 1970
