Gorgeous Large Spanish Hair Comb (Peineta) that is made of faux tortoise shell. It has rich brown and caramel tones made from an early plastic, (most likely Celluloid). Large fan-shaped convex arch featuring a traditional open work design with two flamenco dancers in the center. It has five 2½" long curved teeth.
These Spanish hair combs, known as peinetas, date back to 19th century Spain to be worn under mantillas, long lace veils. The mantilla is a common element in Valencian and Andalusian flamenco costumes. This Fantastic Hair Comb came from an antique store in Spain.
