Lovely antique yellow glass trade beads made in Italy and traded to Africa. The color is nicely matched, they have a base that is a soft even yellow color. There are applied designs in red, white, navy and green. Some are French Cross beads that are African trade beads with a history dating back to the late 19th century in Africa. French cross beads were made in Venice, Italy and commonly used for trading purposes in Africa during the late 1800s and the early 1900s. The shapes and designs will vary, with some having rounded edges and others are flat. Many beads have circular and striped cane trailing decorations. Due to their age these beads may have some dirt, small chips, and pits that are normal for their journey and extensive use,.but they have a nice polish with very little pitting.
